Get Your Ideas Out of Your Head and Put Them on Paper

Remember that great idea you had in the shower yesterday? Oops, it's gone, right? That can happen a lot. Despite our best intentions to take action on a bomb idea, sometimes we forget or get busy, and it just doesn't happen. That is why you should put your best ideas in writing! Here are a few tips to make sure you don't lose any more creative concepts that stand to put you riiiiight where you want to be.

1. Keep writing materials handy

For some this will be a notebook and pen. Keep it by the bedside or in the kitchen or on your desk, wherever most of your creative juices seem to flow. Or carry it with you so you will be ready to write whenever the muse strikes.

Other people may prefer to use an iPad or a laptop to record their brainchildren. Again, keep the device handy or nearby so you can get to it quickly - and don't put off recording your ideas. Write them out as soon as you can so you don't forget the idea, or any details you may have already started formulating in your head. :)

2. Write the main point and a few details

If you are in a rush, you don't have to write a detailed description of the idea. Use a numbered list of phrases or try bullet points. An outline or a paragraph may be enough to get the basic idea in print.

3. Store it safely

If you use a notebook, keep it out in the open as a subliminal reminder that you're trying to be proactive in documenting any tidbits that are likely to pop up hear and there.  Don't let it get lost under a stack of newspapers. Try to keep it in the same, safe place so you know where it is as soon as you need it.

On a computer, set a document file and label it with a word or phrase you will remember. You want to be able to find it quickly when the next idea comes along to add to it.

4. Organize your work occasionally

At least once a week look over your notes to see what you have. See if they make sense. Add explanations or details, and organize into a document that begins to flow with an introduction, body, and conclusion. Underline or bold topic ideas or main points for quick reference.

With minimal effort each day or a few times a week, you can create a seamless document that could become a best selling book or next big idea that everyone MUST HAVE one day. Keep writing and don't let those inspiring ideas disappear.

5. Write on.....Rock on'!!

If this is something you have done or are willing to do, feel free to leave feedback below. It will likely help someone else that may just need your little push....:) #EachOneTeachOne
