yes i think embracing your curly texture increases self confidence.
i think that when i grew out my natural hair years ago, and learned how to take care of it, i finally saw the real me. i would never give that up.
a big curly afro is a very powerful look that i rock during weekends sometimes. i look like a lioness.
but even years ago when i used to relax my hair, i could still tease my hair until i got a big haired lioness look. that look is also quite powerful.
according to holy teachings, my natural hair is so precious and special. it is a beautiful gem for my personal enjoyment with myself and my family.
we all have to know who we are and celebrate ourselves.
Yes, my confidence is off the charts. I exude confidence in my walk…not because I think I look good but because I feel good in the I side. I feel free, I feel a sense of wholeness, I feel complete.
My confidence level has gone from 0-60 in One month. I love the natural me. I didn’t think that I would be able to pull it off…but, I am rocking my TWA and loving every minute of it.
My confidence has grown alot since I became natural. I can now walk out the house without make up and feel normal. Actually, I now feel that putting on make-up is “over-doing” my beauty or “for special occassions”. You see, its as if I have this light (confidence in beauty) within me that looks good with a shade (make-up) but the room (world) is brighter when its not covered.

It was neat meeting you at the show in Atlanta. You are so right confidence was in the air. Yes my confidence level is higher now that I no longer perm my hair. I did not know that would be the case because I went natural because the perm broke my hair so badly. But now that I am natural, I would not wear it any other way. My hair is even accepted in my very professional job setting. I love the new and improved me!!
hello beautiful it was great to meet you Southwest Ms Naturals are so excited that we were able to meet those that support us and those that we support. But to answer your question my confidence is more than others and more now that I’m natural than when permed. Please do not get it twisted I was the bomb dot com permed but going from 7-8 inches of hair to 1-2 inches I had to pull it off so I was like let’s do the darn thang…and for 15 months and I must say as it grows confidence is growing as well….nice topic!
I can totally believe your experience to be true. I do feel more confident and more empowered since I’ve been natural. I’m not sure what it is, but when I am walking into a room. I feel that all eyes are on me. Then I get the compliments about the texture and questions about my regime.
